Hey readers, Welcome back to Tuesday's Takeaways! This week our Top Quotes concern the passage of that fleeting thing ancient societies designated 'time'.
"I waited for you And as time grew slower my heart grew more rapid." -Camila Dejesus, The Stairs "I can never seem to breathe deeply, lovingly, mindfully. Do I spend too much time up in my own head? My skull collects dust." -Julia Andresakis, On My Mind "Time is lost but all the while Each bend produces its own wrath The twists and turns are caked with blood." -Joseph Austin, BRITTLE "And maybe one day it’ll come rushing out Like a flowing river in comparison to time." -Nawal B. Abdelqader, CANDOR "I treat time as technicality, cracking the sepulcher of sleepless nights like communion drywall in places you called home." -Kali Norris, In Penance for Murdered Orchids And now...
The idiom "in a New York minute" refers to doing something right away. The phrase originated in Texas in the late 1960's, but became more popular several years later when a TV personality joked that a New York minute was "the time it takes for the light in front of you to turn green and the guy behind you to honk his horn." Next week's theme is going to be about water. Make sure to stay tuned! <3 -Mic and Gina
